We care about Black History Month because we care about all image bearers of God.
Please read the words of some prominent Christian Black leaders.
“Black History Month gives us an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with our own past in such a way that will enable us to embrace our diversity to its fullest, putting unity to use for good. When we do that — when we knowledgably serve side by side — there will be no stopping what we can do in the name of Christ.”
Tony Evans
“As a believer, I see racial and ethnic diversity as an expression of God’s manifold beauty. No single race or its culture can comprehensively display the infinite glory of God’s image, so He gave us our differences to help us appreciate His splendor from various perspectives.”
Jemar Tisby
“Celebrating Black History Month as Christians is not just about remembering the past; it’s about enriching our faith and strengthening our community. It’s a time to embrace the beauty of God’s creation in its diversity, to learn from each other, and to move forward together in understanding and love.”
Dr. Charles Lee-Johnson
“As believers, this month can be especially beneficial as a time to promote God’s heart for reconciliation, unity, and treating people as the dignity-filled image bearers that they are.”
Alyssa Gossom
As parents and teachers of littles, it is our responsibility to teach love and beauty and diversity. But we need to believe it first for ourselves. How do you feel about BHM?
