Is the goal having fun or changing lives?
Children’s choirs fulfill three main goals:
- Character development
- Music education
- Spiritual formation

Spiritual Formation
Kids in KidMin Choir –

- observe and participate in worship
- learn foundational truths
- memorize scripture
- understand that Spiritual Formation is the most important part of KidMin Choir
Character development and music education are fantastic gifts to families, churches, and communities. But Spiritual Formation is – hands down – the most important. And it doesn’t just happen by accident. It has to be intentional.
The kids in choir should know three specific things about every song they sing.
- What scripture inspired the song? Is it Biblical or just feel good?
- What do the lyrics mean? Do they understand all the terminology used in the song?
- How does this song relate to their life?
After researching and discovering that no curriculum existed to help leaders teach these crucial aspects, I created my own. Little JAM Sessions curriculum is Biblical and fun. Each six-week units includes a choir song and Bible lessons, crafts, and take-home activities so that each child -whether an aural, kinesthetic, or visual learner – will understand the Good News of Jesus presented in their song.
If you have questions about how to improve the Spiritual Formation in your choir, how to start a choir, or what Little JAM Sessions can offer you, please email at [email protected] or book a virtual chat HERE.
